How to get started
Training routes vary by employer and location. These are the main steps to investigate before you enrol.

City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing Diploma
Core plumbing skills, pipework, sanitation systems, hot and cold water supply. Takes 8–14 weeks at an approved centre.
- 02
Level 3 Plumbing & Heating
Advanced skills including central heating systems, underfloor heating and system design. Opens up higher-paying work.
- 03
Unvented Hot Water Systems (G3)
Required qualification for working on pressurised hot water cylinders. A must-have for modern installations.
- 04
Gas Safe Registration (optional but valuable)
Adding gas qualifications significantly increases your earning potential. Requires ACS assessment.
