Training routes vary by employer and location. These are the main steps to investigate before you enrol.

City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 Electrical Installation
The foundation qualification. Learn wiring regulations, circuit design and safe installation practices. Takes 8–16 weeks at an approved training centre.

18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
Essential certification that every working electrician needs. A 3-day course covering the latest wiring standards.
- 03
2391 Inspection & Testing
Qualifies you to inspect and certify electrical installations. Required for self-certification schemes like NICEIC.

NVQ Level 3 On-Site Assessment
Workplace assessment proving practical competence. Required before you can join a competent persons scheme and work independently.
